1. Introduction
Welcome to "Guess The Word - Science Quiz," an engaging educational
game that challenges your knowledge of various science topics.
2. Getting Started
Upon launching the program, you'll be greeted with the main screen.
To get started, follow these steps:
Choose a science topic from the list box. Options may include the
periodic table, the atom, organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry,
and more.
Select a mini-quiz containing up to 20 words from the chosen science
topic.
3. Selecting a Science Topic
You can choose from various science topics in the list box. Click on
the topic you want to explore, and a list of available mini-quizzes
related to that topic will be displayed. Select the one that
interests you the most.
4. Playing the Mini-Quiz
Once you've selected a mini-quiz, you'll enter the game interface.
Here's how to play:
A word from the chosen science topic will be displayed on the screen
as underscores, with the number of letters indicated as underscores
above the answer text field.
Only letters in the English alphabet are considered legal characters
for your answers.
5. Answering Questions
You will be presented with questions in a hinting manner. Your goal
is to guess the word based on the hints provided. Enter your answer
in the text field below the word and click the "Submit" button.
6. Using Hints
For each word, you will be given four hints to help you guess the
answer. Use these hints wisely, as they will affect your final
score. The more hints you use, the lower your score will be. Try to
guess the word with as few hints as possible.
7. Dictionary Descriptions
After you have solved (or failed to solve) a question, a
comprehensive dictionary description of the word will appear in the
lower part of the window. This feature enhances your understanding
of the word and the science topic.
8. Scoring System
The scoring system is based on the average number of hints used for
all the words in the mini-quiz. The best possible score is 1, while
the worst score is 4. Aim to achieve a lower score to test your
knowledge and improve your performance.
9. Top 10 List
If your score is good enough, you may be offered a spot on the "Top
10 List." This list showcases the top-scoring players in the
selected science topic and mini-quiz. Try to compete for a top spot!
Enjoy the game, enhance your scientific knowledge, and challenge
yourself to be a top scorer in the world of science!
