Axis consisting of three sedimentary elements :  A = clay , B=  sand and C= silt .

Example from property of soils ternary phase diagram:  (20% Clay , 40% Sand , 40% Silt ) = Loam

Sand : A sedimentary material with grains between 0.06 and 2.0 millimeters in diameter.
Silt :  A sedimentary material consisting of very fine particles between 0.002 - 0.06 millimeters in diameter.
Clay : A sedimentary material with grains smaller than 0.002 millimeters in diameter
Loam: Soil composed of a mixture of sand, clay, silt, and organic matter
